It’s that time of year again! Time to get serious about trying to lose some weight and shape up. Of course this is brought on by the fact that we booked out cruise for next January. We are once again going on Royal Caribbean because we had such a good time on the last one. It’s 8 nights on the Independence of the Seas. Before the cruise this year we’ll be doing Universal Studios in Orlando. I’m so excited and I can’t wait, though obviously I have to. This is going to be my first real cruise, even though it’s my 7th (I think). I’ll have no soaps to watch, no pages I feel I have to get updated and God as I my witness I WILL be done with school! I am expecting a carefree vacation damnit!
Back to the topic at hand. Every time I book a cruise I get on the “get fit” kick, which usually I try to kick up in November (the worst time of the year because of holidays). I’ve actually been doing fairly good about food and getting to the gym, but I have to get a bit more serious and stop cheating with what I’m eating. To help I plopped down a down-payment to reserve a Nintendo Wii Fit. It comes out later this month and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It does strength training, yoga and aerobics as well as “balance games.” I know it can’t replace the gym, but it’s been getting good marks. Plus I know first hand that playing “Dance Dance Revolution” for 30 minutes gives you a damn good workout. So I’m expecting this to be as good if not better. I also know Yoga can be but kicking, but it’s not something I would want to do at the gym in front of others 🙂
My daughter lost 60 pounds doing “Dance Dance Revolution†and cutting back on how much she ate. She’s a fast food and sweets junkie but just by cutting back and all the dancing she lost. I too need to lose weight and lots of it. Years ago I lost 80 pounds and gained it back, plus 20 more 🙁 I’m so over weight and out of shape now that the task of losing weight just seems to be too much. BUT I plan on starting a diet and exercise program monday the 12th. Why the 12th, because this weekend I’m sure there will be cake (Mother’s Day)and my (DIL’s Birthday),lol. I think you look just *fine* Dustin, but it’s really good to get in shape and eat well. I wish I would have done it when I was younger.
I hate you and your Wii-ness! Damn you!
I too am doing the ‘fit’ thing as I became a blimp this winter.
Universal Studios in Orlando is great for the roller-coaster type rides but the “movie studio” part is pretty lame. The real one in LA is very cool. Check it out some time.
Don’t be fooled into long lines for any movie-based “rides” The “I love Lucy” store/museum is a gay must see though (see Lucy’s polka-dot dress!!)
I’ve done the one in LA actually, and Universal’s theme park one, not the movie park. We were short on time that year.
LA’s one was all one park, I thought it was stinky of Universal to make it into 2 parks and 2 tickets. We are probably doing the movie park the first day as that gives us 2 full days for the rides park and anything else.
My girls love Universal/Island of Adventure in Orlando. My problem with it is that you can do both parks in one day. And that is going through more than once. The plus though, which I do love, is that if you stay in one of their property hotels (Hard Rock Hotel is a great one, your room key serves as a fast pass. Depending on the lines, we can ride a ride 2 to 3 times to the person standing in the regular lines 1 time. Definately worth it. City Walk is also fun. At night, it really comes alive!
Yeah, yoga is physically challenging, far more than it looks. But I also have found it to be mentally relaxing. So there’s a trade-off.
