Last night I was bemoaning taking down the Halloween decoration to my online chatroom friends (pretty much my only contact with living people outside of my house anymore, I know, sad), only to find out some of them already have their Christmas trees up! I said I hadn’t taken down Halloween yet, Thanksgiving is not even here yet, and you have Christmas Trees up! Who do they think they are, CVS?

I did take down almost all of Halloween today though. Everything but the creepy ghost in the attic windows (cause I didn’t feel like crawling in there today) and the “Nightmare Before Christmas” village on the mantel. I decided there was no rush putting it away, because clearly it has Christmas in the title and it just means I’m in sink with the 24 hour pharmacies who already have Christmas merchandise out.

In other news, I’m on day 2 of vegetarianism. I am craving the sweet taste of deep fried flesh and the not-really-beef of McDonald’s. I must be strong to show Emily that I can last more than a month.

  1. My Mom and a neighbor lady had this unspoken contest on who could put their Christmas Tree up first. It started out we would put our tree up on Thanksgiving night. I can remember my Mom saying, hurry kids Jona almost has her tree up. We would look across the street and see she was putting on the last bulbs. She would light up her tree, look over at us, smile, and give us a little nod. So the next year we kept the curtains closed and started Thanksgivng afternoon. We lighted up the tree and opened the curtains to find our neighbor just getting stated. HAHA, we won. Our Mom smiled and gave a little nod. The following year early in November we awoke to Jona’s tree in the window all lighted up. She had won. So as the years went on we put our tree up earlier and earlier. This went on until other neighbors started making fun of Jona and my Mom. We went back to putting the tree up on Thanksgiving eve. I usually put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving. It takes me a week to get out all my Christmas decorations. I did skip Thanksgivng on my myspace page. I already have up a really pretty Christmas background and Christmas music.
