The toe still doesn’t know what it wants to do. It’s become a kaleidoscope of colors lately. It went from the original blood blue/black, back to an almost normalish color, to a deathly looking white/grey and is now getting bloody again. I keep meaning to just soak it in a bowl of hot salt water to see what might happen.
Here’s a photo for you to enjoy! Hopefully nobody is eatting 🙂 Honestly it looks a lot nice here than it has before.
I rented “Doctor Strange” this week. It just came out on DVD, it’s Marvel’s latest animated straight to DVD movie. I am not a comic book buff. I do know the characters, but only because of cartoons, movies and what not. Doctor Strange has made guest appearances on lots of Marvel cartoons, so I knew who he was.
Years and years ago, back in the glorious late 70s, when The Hulk and Spiderman became TV shows, Marvel tried with Doctor Strange. They made a pilot, which you can catch watch a clip of on YouTube. Warning, it’s SO very bad. However it was the late 70s. They showed the movie on TV a few times years ago, I recall watching it. It was entertaining enough and stuck with me, probably cause of the bad costume and terrible Mr. Brady perm on Doctor Strange. Apparently the show never made it to series as it came under fire from the Christian Coalition for its depictions of black magic and demons. A pity.
Now however, for those who can’t get a hold of that “great” pilot and don’t feel like reading comics, you can rent the animated movie! I have not rented any of their others (Captain America and the Avengers as well as Iron Man), so I don’t know how this one compares. This movie was however enjoyable. It has a great storyline and is well animated. I was impressed. If you are a fantasy lover, but not a superhero lover, you may find this one enjoyable.
The plot basically is as follows. Doctor Stephen Strange is a man dedicated to his work and the glory he gets from it, having abandoned the true purpose of medicine and why he got into long ago due to a personal life changing incident. A car accident leaves him without the use of his hands. He tries all surgeries he can, nothing works to restore them. A strange man tells him to go to Tibet where he’ll find the answers he seeks. He arrives at a monastery where he learns to become Doctor Strange, sorcerer supreme.
The movie serves mainly as the back story of how he became who he is, the origin of his powers and his “purpose” as a superhero. Doctor Strange was basically the one of the first (if not the first) comic to really get into the bizarre world of demonology and mysticism. Nowadays that’s nothing of course, back in the 60s I’m sure it was a big deal though. It’s different from other superhero comics/movies because of this. It’s set up for a sequel, I hope they really make one as it was a great start.
I’ve seen that nail before on my dad (toe) and my son (finger). They took forever to fall off and even longer to grow back. Thankfully they both said that process didn’t really hurt. Good Luck!
I read your blog all the time…had to comment on your toes…I have never seen anyone with the two middle toes longer than the big toe..Some foot you got there…
I was contemplating renting it to watch. I think I’ll skip it now. However, I’m sure tivo will snag it eventually. hehehe
