Grrrr! If you are a videogame lover, or have kids wanting the newest systems, you no doubt know that the PS3 and Nintendo Wii hit stores in about 2 weeks. The PS3 is in limited supply, and way overpriced in my opinion. For those wanting one for the holiday season I wish you luck 🙂

The Nintendo Wii is more reasonably priced (250$) and even comes with a game! It’s not expected to be in such limited supply, but there will be a demand for it. Certain online retailers are going to start selling “bundles” soon, jacking the price of the system up to 700 dollars! This of course includes a bunch of accessories and games, most of which many people probably won’t want.

How is this any different then people landing a console on launch day and then inflating the price on ebay? In my opinion it really isn’t. I think these “bundle” packages by retailers are scummy and their way of making money off people desperate to get the systems for the holidays.

A pox on people who came up with this idea!

  1. Scarcity requires rationing. If not by price, then by what — GPA? 😉

Voluntary exchange between consenting parties is never “scummy.”

  2. I just think there is no good reason for the bundles, other than to get people to pay more. I know I have no interest in Madon 2007. It also appears they’ve just magically added on 50$ to the price out of no where as well after totalling up all the things that come with the bundle.

  3. Then do what I did with the Xbox 360: buy the bundle and sell what you don’t want on eBay. There’s quite a robust market there. 🙂

  4. I see your perspective, Dustin. I would rather be given the choice to buy a bundle or just the console with one controller. I am currently frustrated with price gouging…I feel like boycotting movie theaters.
