I tuned into “Ghost Whisperer” tonight. I only watched off and on last season, missing the whole finale. My mom filled me in. Tonight’s episode was good though! I’ll be tunning in every week from now on, as if I need more shows to watch. However it doesn’t help that Melinda’s hubby is hubaliscious.

Last night I watched “Hard Candy” which was probably one of the, if not the most disturbing film I have ever seen. However it’s like a car wreck, it pulls you in and you can’t not help but watch.

The film is about a 14 year old named Haley who meets a 30 something year old Jeff on online. They agree too meet at a coffee shop, which turns into them going back to his place. He breaks out some alcohol, then it turns into a “fashion shoot.” You think you know where this is going . . . but then Haley turns the tables on Jeff. Haley knew who Jeff was all the time, what he’s up to and what he’s done . . . .

Probably one of the most interesting things about the whole movie is that while Jeff is no doubt a bad guy, Haley is not exactly a heroine and clearly not a victim. To reveal what happens in the film would give far too much away. Needless to say, you will squirm in your chair. There is no real gore, it’s all psychological and sounds, which is usually worse than gore.

It’s also one of those films that a lot of plot twists happen, you won’t truly understand everything till the end, and still then you are left with questions.

This film is not for everyone, the topic is an emotionally charged one and you have to wonder what went on in the mind of the writer. However it is one emotional roller coaster of a ride.

  1. I so wanted to watch “Ghost Whisperer” but unfortunately was not at home on Friday night. I may have to invest in TiVo because I’m usually not home on Friday nights. I watched only a few episodes last season but I really liked the ones I did see. One that stayed with me was where she went to the old folks’ home, and was spotted by a friendly ghost, and she promised to help him with something if he pointed her in the right direction of whatever it was she was seeking, but in her haste to deal with the task at hand, she forgot about him. So in the last scene of the show, she is at home smooching her husband and the camera pans over to the ghost, who is standing in the foyer of her home, looking not-so-friendly anymore. It still gives me the chills just thinking about it! I also love the show “Medium” and can’t wait till the premiere! (as you may have guessed I checked out All About Dustin)
Also I had to note that I have read about the movie “Hard Candy” and I want to watch it as well. I have a strange affinity for those types of movies…the psychological thrillers/dramas. Another good one is a French horror movie called “High Tension”. It’s alot like “Wolf Creek”, if you’ve seen that one. Lots of suspense.
p.s. Poltergeist scared the bejesus out of me at a young age!
