Not only was it a shitty day, but all my plans were shot as well. Woke up feeling blah, which was only made worse by worry over Princess. She was panting heavily and shaking. Everything I could google suggested it was the reaction to thunderstorms by dogs. While we have been having nasty storms, Princess has never acted like this. We also didn’t have any thunder, just a lot of high winds.

When she didn’t stop this behavior I finally took her to the vet. The vet was mobbed and I was in the exam room FOR EVER. Not only did I have a sick Princess but Nikko as well, as he refused to let me go out the door with Princess and without him. First they did an exam, no fever. Then they took blood, which took forever to get back. Nothing. Finally they suggested Xrays to see if she had a blockage since her belly seemed a bit swollen. She had a blockage, it was poop! Apparently she’s gassy and backed up. They gave her some fluids and some medicine for discomfort. If she’s not better by tomorrow I have to take her back for an enema. Fun! She seems to be better now, but is moping.

Unfortunately I was at the vet for 3+ hours, and by time I got home I was done for. All that dust and pet dander with the wonderful fluorescent lights gave me one killer headache. I’ve been a slug most of the evening.

Hopefully a good nights sleep will find me and Princess better tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be better as well, which will be an improvement.
