So last night I got a little scared while talking with people about buying a car. I started reading online tips and strategies and stuff. I soon realized I knew nothing about how to buy a car and was not prepared at all yesterday to buy one, I probably would have been taken to the cleaners. I had a bit of a panic attack over the whole thing, as well as some other things. Needless to say I went to bed at 4:30, fell asleep around 5, the alarm went off at 5:30 and I had to get up to walk the dogs. I probably should have just stayed up that extra hour 🙂
I’m heading to Virginia tomorrow after all now that I am not going car shopping this week. I’m going to test drive the cars I like with my mom and then try and do the car buying thing over the net to see how well I can do for myself. If I can stay out of a dealership that is the plan, I know I’ll get taken. Otherwise Jen is coming with me cause she won’t take shit. If all else fails, my mom offered my grandmother’s 84 Olds cutlass to me. The only problem is it needs some more work in order to pass inspection. Emissions and stuff. Perhaps I’ll see about having that fixed when I’m in Virginia.
I am also going to get back on the game plan with my school work. I can’t fall into the Virginia trap, mindlessly staring at the TV and renting far too many movies from blockbuster! Speaking of movies . . . . I was considering going to the gym today to try and work off the stress of last night. I still might. However the couch and the movies I rented earlier in the week are also looking very tempting. I’m afraid I’d fall asleep though since I haven’t had much sleep.

I have only bought one car on my own.But I have heard that CAR BROKERS can REALLY BE HELPFULL.They do the legwork for you, they negociate the costs, the financing etc. Then you pay them an amount for the legwork. ALSO,I suggest you get a one year old car.You loose SO MUCH VALUE in the 1st year.Call the car guys,KLICK AND KLACK on NPR radio to get ideas also. They really are smart guys, and goofy at times.Good luck, take someone with you ,who can grab your arm before you make hasty choices.
Sorry,it is CLICK AND CLACK,Just go to CAR TALK in the net.Good luck.
Thanks for the tips 🙂 Some of the cars I’m looking at and like aren’t able to be bought used as they are so new 🙁 Like introduced last year, so it’s hard to find them.
However, I do not plan to sell the car for a long time, like a long time. Case in point, my mom still has her 92 Camry and my Gmas 84 Olds 🙂 So I’m not too conserned about resale value (since by time I’m ready to sell, it will have gone down so much anyways).
If I go for a Matrix, which is on the list, then I will go used 🙂
