I made the mistake of putting my cell phone number on my credit cards. Actually I usually put my cell phone number as my home phone in general on anything. Unfortunately the credit card companies now call me multiple times a day.
Asswipe: Hello Mr. Cushman, as our way of saying thank you for using your Visa Card we are going to send you a free online gift certificate for shopping worth 500 dollars, it is yours to keep absolutely free. Now If I can just confirm your name and address then we’ll send this package out to you, there is a minimal charge to ship it.
Me: No thanks
Asswipe: May I ask why you do not want this gift?
Me: Cause they all come with a catch, you get signed into a program that bills you each month and takes way too many phone calls to get out of.
Asswipe: I understand but this is not one of those . . .
Me: CLICK
I almost never hang up on these people. I let them talk on and on for five minutes and then say nope! Not anymore, I can’t deal with their insane amount of calls to me. Unfortunately it seems there is no way for me to block them via my cell phone! ARG!

Phone salespeople are the lowest form of life, just edging out earthworms and head lice.
My friend gets calls like this all the time on his cellphone. He tells them “You’ve reached me on my cellphone and right now you’re imparing my ability to drive.” Then he hangs up. I’m not sure this prevents any more calls, but he feels a little less rude about hanging up on them.
The asswipe called me back 2 more times, including at 8:30pm! I didn’t answer, but I knew the number. Starting tomorrow I’m just going to answer when they call and say “I do no want the free gift, I will never want the free gift, take me off your calling list and do not call again.” CLICK. They seriously call me at least 3 times a day.
Check out http://www.donotcall.gov Then if they call again tell them your on the do not call registry and they have to remove your number from their lists. Hope that helps.
I really enjoy reading your blogs.
Thanks, added my cell to that. Hopefully it will work 🙂
