SOMEONE keeps giving my name and cell phone number out to telemarketers! ARG. I just received a call from a 1-800 number and the person asked me if I had reviewed the “Bowflex” information I had requested and what I thought about it. I said I didn’t request any.
I have been getting a lot of 1-800 number calls, and I usually ignore them. The previous one I picked up asked me about an online request form that I filled out requesting information about stock investments. Again I told the person I didn’t fill out an online form.
This is getting annoying, and worrying me. Fortunately I have credit fraud protection and will be alerted if someone opens an account in my name.
Has this ever happened to any of you? The phone calls that is.
Dustin
Oh yes, once they called and asked for me (my husband answered) and he knew they were telemarketers, but they refused to tell him what it was about, so they kept calling every night, until I answered. They told me they wanted to ask me some questions, regarding the major crecit card that I carry. I told them I don’t have one. They said, the debit card, I again said I don’t have one, then they hung up. EVIL!!!!!
Just recently I thought I heard that telemarketers would have access to cell phone numbers too and therefore you can register your cell #’s at http://www.donotcall.gov list. I’m not 100% sure if thats the website registry for the do not call list or not. I used it some time ago. But the same rules/laws apply as they do for your home phone.
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: (888)382-1222. It is the National Do Not Call List. It only takes a minute and blocks your number for 5 years.
