On Saturday I decided to post my blog’s url on my Days and Passions pages underneath the link to the “About Dustin” section. I figured it was a Saturday, a slow traffic day, so it wouldn’t put to much stress on the account I have the blog on (ie the traffic wouldn’t slow the site to a crawl, which could happen).
However come Sunday I decided to nix the idea. I think I would rather have people do the extra work of bothering to go to the about me site to find the link to this blog. I figured if they went to the trouble to read out about who I am, and then they went to the trouble to following the link to the blog then they would be open enough to reading the blog. Surprise surprise, Dustin actually has a life outside the soaps (though sometimes it doesn’t seem that way!)
There are a lot of topics going on in the world to day I am reluctant to comment on here. Sure, it’s my blog, we have freedom of speech in this country and if people don’t like what I say they don’t have to read it. If people actually respected those ideas, and yes I know many do, it wouldn’t be an issue. However in this day and age of red and blue states, of liberals and conservatives, I feel like I have to censor a lot of what I say. I fear some people have associated me so much with the soaps that they won’t want to hear my viewpoints on real life topics. It’s like I’m allowed to have a life and opinions, as long as I don’t express them and mar their enjoyments of the soaps.
Again, this isn’t the soap page, and I specifically took the links off the soap page because of that. In time hopefully I’ll get more comfortable talking about things that irk me in the world today. We’ll see.

Hello Dustin. My name is Jim Cushman and I live in Massachusetts near Cape Cod. I found your site by accident
only to discover that you and I are related somewhere down the line. We’re both related to Robert Cushman!! I’m 49(gonna be 50 on October 14,…Yikes!)My wife Donna is an RN at a rehab hospital in New Bedford Mass.Did you now that a women from the Cushman family who lived in Maine married into the family of President Rutherford B. Hayes?? My great Aunt Celia did the whole geneology thing back in the early 1960’s before it became the thing to do and told me that I was related to Robert Cushman…and to President Hayes by marriage!! I guess that you are too!! I’m also related to the early American actress,Charlotte Cushman(you must be also!!). Hope to hear from you! Jim
Interesting! I didn’t know about Hayes, Charlotte Cushman sounds familiar though. My grandmother told me everything as a kid, but I was a kid and it wasn’t interesting to me then 🙂
