WARNING! Videogame Talk Ahead!

Today I went out and picked up the videogame “Pump It Up Exceed” for the PS2. This is the latest dance game to be released for the home consoles. I’m a big fan of the DDR games, and have been playing them a lot to get exercise in at home. I was however growing bored with them, so I picked this gem up.

If you like DDR then you might like this one. It does take getting used to though as the arrows are in the corners of the mat, and a fifth button is added to the center. However once you get the hang of it you can find your groove and work up a sweat. The songs are very diverse, but there aren’t as many mainstream songs as the DDR tunes. One thing that is nice is that each song is the whole song, not a portion of the song, and every song has a unique video. The steps also are more choreographed to go with the song, and your not performing weird moves that are impossible (like DDR!). However I haven’t tried the more difficult settings yet.

The downside is that there is no workout mode like DDR to tell you how many calories your burning :(. Still the game is fun, and I’m going to give it another whirl in a bit (yes it is 10pm!).
